Anne C. writes, “Diane Spence of The Williamsburg Garden Club just sent me this picture of the rose she was given to her at the GCV Board of Governors Meeting hosted by The Ashland Garden Club many years ago As a gift to attendees Lois Wickham rooted cuttings of the different roses she had from Hickory Hill and potted them. Diane took this home and has given it loving care. We think it is Alistair Stella Grey.”

Wild blueberries near Carter Park. There are LOTS of them!I have seen lots of Sassafras seedlings around….this was near Carter Park. This may be Turkey Tail Fungus or, possibly, Stereum or Fomes applanatus, “White Butt Rot.” I’m not sure….I have looked it up in a field guide and online, but, I’m still not sure. Anyway, I thought it was interesting looking! I saw this gorgeous lilac along Center Street. It might be “Miss Kim,” I’m not sure, but it sure is beautiful! This Scotch Broom is another Center Street “stunner!”Lauren T. sent this picture. She says, “Not mine, but noteworthy. … .this Baptisia is in Fred’s former front yard…never seen one as fat and happy!”
